Are you a skilled and experienced Arboricultural Consultant looking for an exciting opportunity to take the lead in developing arboriculture services?

Our Arboriculture team is expanding, and we're seeking a talented individual to join us as our Managing Consultant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage professional instructions and coordinate additional resources as needed, including sub consultants and support staff.
  • Provide expert advice on a variety of tree-related tasks to ensure high levels of service to both existing and new clients.
  • Address tree-related issues on development sites, including BS:5837 assessments, design guidance, planning support, and implementation works.
  • Engage with the management team to contribute to business strategy, marketing, and innovation for new work streams.
  • Prepare management strategies, policies, tree surveys, and recommendations for remedial works related to tree risk management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Arboricultural Knowledge: In-depth understanding of arboriculture principles, practices, and techniques, including tree biology, identification, maintenance, and management.

  2. Technical Expertise: Proficiency in conducting tree surveys, assessments, and inspections using industry-standard methodologies and tools. Familiarity with tree risk assessment and management techniques.

  3. Report Writing: Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare comprehensive reports, assessments, and recommendations for clients and stakeholders. Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

  4. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from initial assessment and planning stages to implementation and completion. Organizational skills to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.

  5. Client Management: Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, understand their needs and expectations, and provide professional advice and guidance. Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

  6. Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards related to arboriculture, including tree preservation orders (TPOs), conservation areas, and planning regulations.

  7. Team Collaboration: Collaborative mindset to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including landscape architects, ecologists, engineers, and planners. Ability to communicate and coordinate with team members to achieve project objectives.

  8. Problem-Solving: Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex arboricultural issues, identify solutions, and make informed recommendations. Adaptability to respond to unforeseen challenges and changes in project requirements.

  9. IT Skills: Proficiency in using computer software and tools relevant to arboriculture, such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems), AutoCAD, and specialist tree management software.

  10. Continuous Learning: Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of industry developments, best practices, and emerging trends in arboriculture.

  • A degree in a relevant subject such as Arboriculture, Ecology, or Conservation.
  • Excellent theoretical and technical experience in arboriculture.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English for report writing purposes.
  • Familiarity with relevant software such as AutoCAD and GIS programs.
  • Membership with the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) or Registered Consultant status with the Arboricultural Association. (Preferable)
  • Full UK driving license required.
